Over the past two decades, Tom and Emma Lane have redefined what’s possible in regional Australia, spearheading some of the most iconic and pioneering developments across the country.

From Copperstone in Bangalow to Highview in Newrybar, Highground in the Southern Highlands, Skynest in Mermaid Beach, The Range in Coopers Shoot, The Farm in Byron Bay, The Beach House in East Ballina, and QuickSmart Homes in Sydney, their portfolio is a testament to innovation, elegance, and a deep commitment to sustainability.

“We approach our work with the belief that true value lies in creating spaces that are timeless and intergeneration. If it works today, it should work for generations to come. Our goal is to craft environments where future generations can thrive and prosper, while ensuring we give back to the land - by focusing on environmental sustainability, regenerative practices and economic viability in every project we undertake.”

Their approach isn’t just about building structures - it’s about creating legacies. Through innovative designs that blend luxury with responsibility, Tom and Emma Lane are ensuring that their developments will continue to nurture both people and planet for years to come.

Copperstone, Bangalow

In the heart of the Northern Rivers, nestled amidst some of the most idyllic countryside, the Lanes embarked on an extraordinary vision: to create an agrarian sanctuary that would celebrate the slow living philosophy, respect for nature, and a deep admiration for European heritage. And so, in 2024, Copperstone was born - an estate that feels like a world apart yet harmoniously integrates with its surroundings.

Situated in the picturesque township of Bangalow, with its historic charm and artistic vibe, Copperstone feels almost transported from another time and place. As you travel down the long, winding driveway, the property reveals itself like a hidden gem - serene, isolated, and with a certain reminiscent spirit of the Tuscan hills.

Drawing inspiration from the Lanes’ love of horses and their travels across Spain and Italy, Copperstone was named for the warm, earthy tones of the landscape - its coppery hues reflecting the rich textures and colours of the land.

This stunning estate offers The Homestead as the heart of the property, surrounded by world-class recreational facilities including The Games Room, The Pool House, The Wellness Retreat, The Tennis Court, The Stables, The Dressage Arena, The Walled Garden, The Sandy Beach, and The Fire Pit - all thoughtfully designed to create a place for relaxation and renewal.

A 2.5-kilometre stretch of custom-built Blackbutt wooden post-and-rail fencing encloses the estate, wrapping it in a sense of peaceful seclusion. Beyond the gates, vast lawns, paddocks, and waterways create a seamless flow between the built environment and nature. There are riding tracks, walking trails, a trampoline, and multiple outdoor dining and entertaining spaces - ensuring there’s always a place to unwind, whether with family or friends.

Inside, Emma’s interiors of Copperstone reflect a masterful blend of the old and new, with a design narrative that celebrates both antiquity and modernity. A carefully curated palette of warm rustic tones - soft pinks, rose, ecru, and browns - adds depth and luxury to each room. Texture plays a key role in the interior design, with every corner offering a tactile experience that speaks of comfort, elegance, and understated luxury.

At its core, Copperstone is more than just a luxury retreat. It is a haven of peace and harmony, where modern elegance unfolds in perfect balance with the land. Every element has been thoughtfully considered, honouring the land while allowing it to flourish naturally. It’s a sanctuary for global travellers, families, and communities alike - an escape where you can connect, relax, and indulge in the simplest yet most precious luxuries of life.

Managing the entire development, from design and build to landscape and equine features, the Lanes brought their signature commitment to regeneration, restoration, and a deep fondness for European charm into every detail of Copperstone. In May 2025, the property was sold and passed on to new custodians to treasure, a testament to its undeniable appeal and the true value of tasteful design.

Highview, Newrybar

Perched on a pristine 6.8-acre hillside, Highview offers an experience like no other - an unrivalled vantage point overlooking the rolling hills of Byron Bay’s prestigious hinterland, with sweeping views that stretch to the Pacific Ocean coastline. It’s a place where the beauty of the land and the horizon seem to merge, offering the ultimate lifestyle location.

As the highest point on the ocean-facing ridge - from the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse to Lennox Head - Highview stands as a rare treasure. No other property in the area can claim such a unique building precedent, with the main residence anchored at the very edge of the ridgeline, offering views to die for that make every moment here feel like a dream.

Collaborating with the renowned international architects at MORQ, the Lanes have crafted a visionary design - a stunningly luxurious contemporary compound that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in this breathtaking locale. In its final planning stages, the project promises to redefine the region’s architectural landscape, creating a living space that balances privacy, luxury, and natural beauty in a way that’s never been seen before.

Highview’s entry is as spectacular as the property itself - a private, treelined driveway leads you to open parkland grounds, where mature trees dot the landscape, and unobstructed views of the ocean stretch before you. The sense of peace and tranquillity is palpable, with manicured lawns and lush tropical gardens offering a serene backdrop to a lifestyle of complete relaxation.

Whether it’s enjoying the sunrise over the ocean, taking a refreshing dip in the pool, galloping across the paddocks at sunset, or simply soaking in the majestic views from every corner, Highview offers a rare sanctuary - a place where nature’s spirit and unparalleled luxury converge. It’s more than just a home; it’s an experience - a sanctuary of peace, privacy, and breathtaking beauty in the heart of the Byron Bay hinterland.

Highground, Southern Highlands

In early 2023, the Lanes discovered 100 acres of untouched countryside, nestled on the majestic Bendooly Hill, just minutes from Bowral and Berrima. What appeared to be a rundown yet brimming with potential piece of land soon became the canvas for their latest visionary project: Highground.

Set against some of the Southern Highlands' most breathtaking vistas, Highground was designed to celebrate the raw beauty of nature, paired with a contemporary elegance that brings the countryside into the 21st century.

The main homestead, a seamless fusion of modern architecture and expert craftsmanship, offers six spacious bedrooms, three luxurious bathrooms, and expansive living and dining spaces - all designed to immerse you in the sweeping landscape. The estate also features two private cabins - one with two bedrooms, the other with three - each offering seclusion and comfort. An artist studio on the property invites inspiration, while immaculate gardens, state-of-the-art recreation facilities, and outdoor courtyards create an idyllic atmosphere of luxurious tranquillity.

By early 2024, the development was completed, and the Lane family privately sold the property - a seamless transition toward their next visionary project, Highview in Newrybar. Highground remains a true example of TRE’s commitment to blending luxury with nature, a sanctuary that celebrates both the land and those lucky enough to call it home.

Skynest, Mermaid Beach

In 2022, the Lanes turned their vision skyward, acquiring the crown jewel of the prestigious 272 Hedges development in Mermaid Beach - a penthouse unlike any other. Perched high above the Gold Coast, this remarkable residence was aptly named Skynest, a tribute to its breathtaking, uninterrupted views that stretch from Snapper Rocks to Moreton Island, with the hinterland rolling endlessly beyond.

Nestled between golden beaches and lush parklands, Skynest is more than just a home - it’s an elevated escape. Spread over two serene levels, the residence seems to float among the clouds, its flawless craftsmanship and timeless design blending seamlessly with the ever-changing seascape. Refined yet relaxed, sophisticated yet soulful, it embodies the essence of coastal European elegance.

Every detail within Skynest is a careful curation of old and new, where antique treasures meet bespoke modern pieces, creating a space that feels both grounded and effortlessly luxurious. It is a home designed to harmonise with its surroundings, a place where the ocean breeze drifts through sunlit spaces, and every window frames a masterpiece.

Upon its completion in early 2023, Skynest was sold, standing as yet another testament to TRE’s transformative vision - a philosophy that turns architecture into art, and living spaces into sanctuaries.

The Range, Coopers Shoot

Riding the wave of global success from The Farm, the Lanes set their sights on something even more extraordinary. In 2017, they acquired 125 pristine acres atop the prestigious Coopers Shoot ridge, a place where rolling hills meet endless sky. With breathtaking panoramic views stretching to the horizon, the estate was aptly named The Range - a tribute to its vast vantage points and boundless beauty.

What emerged was nothing short of a masterpiece - a European-inspired, conscious residence that blends simplicity, elegance, and an unbreakable connection to nature. Designed from the ground up, the Lanes envisioned the perfect fusion of an Australian farmhouse with the timeless charm of a Spanish Finca, creating a sanctuary that is both soulful and sophisticated.

The estate itself is a collection of curated experiences: a grand homestead, accompanied by two private cabins and a rustic fishing shack. A pool house, sauna, and gymnasium for ultimate relaxation. An open-air cinema, alfresco dining and outdoor cooking spaces. A working macadamia orchard, sweeping lawns and tranquil waterways.

But The Range was never just about luxury - it was about regeneration, responsibility, and refined design. Every element was thoughtfully integrated to preserve and enhance the land, proving that sustainability and elegance can coexist effortlessly. What began as a family home soon evolved into a world-class retreat, offering luxury accommodation, exclusive events, and premium photoshoot spaces - transforming personal passion into a thriving business venture.

Revered as the ultimate nature-subversive experience, The Range became a benchmark in conscious development, setting new standards for sustainable living and architectural excellence. In 2023, through TRE’s real estate arm, the property achieved a record-breaking sale within the Byron Bay region, cementing its place as a once-in-a-generation masterpiece - a legacy of land, luxury, and lasting impact.

The Farm, Byron Bay

From the very start, the Lanes dreamed of creating more than just a farm - they envisioned a living, breathing community, a place where people could reconnect with the land, their food, and each other. And so, in March 2015, The Farm was born - not just as a place, but as a movement.

Their most ambitious and celebrated project to date, The Farm was built on a simple yet profound philosophy: to introduce a "new" way of living - one that, in truth, is as old as time itself. Here, the rhythms of nature set the pace, and the land is nurtured with sustainable, regenerative farming practices, ensuring it thrives for generations to come.

Spanning 80 acres, The Farm grew into a thriving agri-tourism hub, home to a working farm, a plant nursery, a market garden, a restaurant, and a bakery. It became a sanctuary for 18 micro-businesses, all bound by a shared purpose: to grow, feed, educate, and give back.

But The Farm’s impact stretched far beyond its fields. It welcomed nearly half a million visitors annually, created over 125 new jobs, and poured $30 million back into the local economy each year. With a harvest of over 20 tons of organic produce annually, virtually zero food miles, and direct support for over 15 other local farms, it became a blueprint for what conscious, sustainable farming could look like in the modern world.

A testament to its success, The Farm’s story was immortalised in the book “The Farm Community”, written by the Lanes, capturing the spirit of its growers, producers, artisans, and educators - a powerful example of The Range Estates’ vision for development and brand storytelling.

By 2020, having transformed a dream into a self-sustaining reality, The Farm was sold as a thriving enterprise, its legacy woven into the fabric of the community.

“The goal was simple: to inspire change. To have every visitor leave with a deeper understanding of where their food comes from, and how small shifts in daily choices can create a ripple effect—one that extends from this land to their own communities. Because when we understand, we care. And when we care, we act—not just for ourselves, but for the planet.”

The Beach House, East Ballina

Perched on sprawling acreage with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, nestled between ancient rainforests and untouched coastal trails, The Beach House was more than just a retreat – it was a vision brought to life. With private access to both Shelley and Angels Beach, this extraordinary property redefined oceanfront exclusivity when it opened its doors in 2018.

Designed as a space for conscious conferencing and executive retreats, the Lanes transformed a historic old schoolhouse into a dynamic venue, seamlessly blending heritage with innovation. With capacity for up to 250 guests, The Beach House became a hub where ideas ignited, creativity flourished, and collaborations thrived – all against the backdrop of nature’s raw beauty.

Every detail of the space was thoughtfully curated to exist in harmony with its surroundings. More than a destination, The Beach House became a pillar of community support, partnering with local businesses and donating a portion of its revenue to Positive Change for Marine Life, Ballina Coast Care, and Australian Seabird Rescue - ensuring its impact rippled far beyond its oceanfront borders.

Having fulfilled its purpose - revitalising a once-forgotten structure into a timeless retreat, deeply connected to both land and sea - the Lanes passed the torch, selling The Beach House in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of innovation, sustainability, and conscious living.

QuickSmart Homes, Sydney

Before venturing into hospitality and luxury accommodation, the Lanes played a pivotal role in a groundbreaking development in 2010. Partnering with the acclaimed Architectus Architects – renowned for their work on the Gallery Of NSW, State Library Victoria, and Powerhouse Museum – and industry giants Hutchinson Builders, they helped shape a visionary project that redefined student living.

The challenge? To create a six-story, 198-bed student accommodation for ACT University that was not only affordable and high-quality, but also sustainably designed with cutting-edge modular construction and future-proof adaptability.

A trailblazer in Australian modular architecture, this project set new benchmarks for efficiency and innovation. With up to 18 prefabricated modules arriving and being installed daily, the build optimised both time and cost while ensuring seamless integration of eco-conscious design principles. The result? A revolutionary model for student housing – proving that sustainability, affordability, and architectural excellent can go hand in hand.
